India Office to Foreign Office.--(Received April 4.)

THE Under-Secretary of State for India presents his compliments to the Under- Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and, by direction of Viscount Morley, forwards herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State, copy of two telegrams from the Viceroy, dated the 2nd and 3rd April, 1911, relative to the withdrawal from Htawgaw.

April 2, 1911. BURMAH-CHINA frontier. Please refer to your telegram dated the 30th ultimo. Military police will leave Itawgaw by the 8th instant at the latest. Wing of Indian infantry regiment is being withdrawn.

Government of India to Viscount Morley.

(Telegraphic.) P.

April 3, 1911. PLEASE see our telegram dated the 29th March regarding Hpimaw expedition. Burmah Government telegraphed the 1st instant as follows:-

"Your telegram dated the 19th ultimo. Hertz reports by telegraph that column of military police must return, leaving Htawgaw not later than the 8th instant, on account of climatic conditions and difficulties as to rations. Permission has been accorded by lieutenant-governor, who has informed major-general commanding that he has no objection to 89th Punjabis being withdrawn."
